The Physician Coaching Institute has launched a new coaching skills training program aimed specifically for multi-disciplinary healthcare leaders. The Certified Healthcare Leader Peer Coach training is a 3-month program aimed at equipping leaders with critical coaching competencies and emotional intelligence skills to more effectively engage their teams.
Drawing from research on positive psychology, emotional intelligence, neuroscience, and healthcare team engaged, this first of its kind training also awards participants with a coaching certification recognized by the the International Coach Federation.
Dr. Francine Gaillour, Founder and Executive Director of the Physician Coaching Institute developed the program in collaboration with master certified coaching professional and academic healthcare leaders. Dr. Gaillour explained the drivers of the program: “In the face of increased stress and burnout reported by clinicians, it is imperative that healthcare leaders understand they must up their game. Research strongly suggests leaders can have a positive impact on physician well-being and team engagement by incorporating a coaching approach and demonstrating emotional intelligence. These are critical leadership skills that are only developed through specialized immersive coach training and personal development. Our new program provides leaders with foundational coaching skills training with required peer coach practice and developmental field work. We are excited about the interest in this new training — healthcare leaders are also realizing they need to a add coaching approach to their repertoire in order to have the impact they envision.”
The Certified Healthcare Leader Peer Coach training is open to health system leadership teams from a single organization. It is important the leadership team trains together as a peer coach cohort (cohort size 10-12).
