Attention Physician Leaders: Verizon Study Quantifies Improved Performance From Advanced Collaboration

The topic of “collaboration” is a big one now, particularly in my work with healthcare organizations implementing advanced EMR technology and CPOE (Computerized Physician Order Entry). Collaboration can certainly be a throw-away piece of jargon, but it is a proficiency that will be required of medical staffs and groups as they move forward into the future of technology-assisted decision making.
I ran across this interesting study sponsored by Verizon, Cisco and Microsoft that starts to quantify “Return on Collaboration.” The bottom line is that COLLABORATION is more important to company growth than incremental gains in market share! Wow! My guess is that every hospital CEO would be intrigued by that conclusion. Here is the link to a summary of the research:
